Congressman Cory Mills Introduces Bill to Block CCP-linked Companies from U.S. Embassy Projects

February 10, 2025

Washington, D.C. — Congressman Cory Mills (FL-07) reintroduced the Embassy Construction Integrity Act to block Chinese government-owned companies from building U.S. embassies, strengthening national security and countering Chinese Communist Party (CCP) espionage threats. Congress recently discovered that a Chinese state-owned enterprise was involved in constructing a U.S. embassy in South Asia, a serious security risk. This bill requires the State Department to conduct thorough due diligence and identify the beneficial owners of companies involved in constructing new diplomatic or consular posts.

“Protecting Americans and American interests means safeguarding them everywhere. When adversarial entities like the Chinese Communist Party infiltrate our embassies, it is a direct threat to our nation’s security and safety abroad,” said Congressman Cory Mills (FL-07).

“National security is non-negotiable. I am committed to exposing and preventing CCP-linked companies from infiltrating our embassies and consular posts. That’s why I’m reintroducing the Embassy Construction Integrity Act to block this serious security threat. The CCP’s espionage efforts are relentless, we have to take decisive action to protect our embassies and the personnel who serve there. As Chairman of the Subcommittee on Oversight and Intelligence within the House Foreign Affairs Committee, I will continue to ensure our nation is safeguarded from these adversarial threats.”
