Congressman Cory Mills Introduces the DOGE Act
Washington, D.C. — Congressman Cory Mills (FL-07), alongside Congressmen Aaron Bean (FL-04) and Byron Donalds (FL-19), introduced H.R. 2006, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Act, to codify President Trump’s executive order establishing and implementing the President’s “Department of Government Efficiency”.
The executive order established the Department of Government Efficiency by renaming the United States Digital Service (USDS) as the United States DOGE Service (USDS). It also created the U.S. DOGE Service Temporary Organization to promote efficiency goals in the first 18 months but will terminate itself on July 4, 2026. The DOGE Act seeks to codify DOGE, allowing the President to focus on government efficiency and implementing modernized government-wide software. Under the bill, the head of each federal agency will be required to form a dedicated team that will collaborate with DOGE to ensure the successful implementation of initiatives designed to maximize federal government productivity. Cosigners include Rep. Bean (FL-04), Rep. Donalds (FL-19), Rep. Moore (AL-01), Rep. Rulli (OH-06), Rep. Spartz (IN-05), Rep. Issa (CA-48), and Rep. Miller (IL-15).
“According to the agency themselves, DOGE has already achieved over $115 billion in savings, which amounts to more than $700 in savings per taxpayer. They are rooting out waste and fraud, including the cancellation of 104 DEI contracts, saving the government more than $1 billion. One of my favorite finds, was when DOGE identified that the Biden administration spent $8 million performing transgender experiments on mice. This is the type of wasteful spending that the American taxpayer deserves transparency on," said Congressman Cory Mills.
"I am committed to promoting the DOGE Act to further enforce a more efficient government that saves taxpayer money and improves efficiency, ultimately benefiting the American people."
“DOGE’s mission is to improve government efficiency and to stop the abuse of taxpayer dollars—and it’s doing just that. As co-chair of the House DOGE Caucus, I am proud to join Congressman Mills in introducing the DOGE Act to codify President Trump’s executive order into law. The American people overwhelmingly support ending waste, fraud, and abuse, and we are working to restore accountability to the American public,” said Congressman Bean.
“$2 trillion annual deficits, $36 trillion in debt, and the Washington Swamp wants to continue to grow—enough is enough. We’re taking our country back, we’re putting the American people first again, and under President Trump, the Department of Government Efficiency is doing just that. Now more than ever, it’s critical that we codify this consequential endeavor into federal law. I am proud to co-lead H.R. 2006 alongside Congressman Cory Mills to eliminate the waste, fraud, and abuse plaguing our government once and for all,” said Congressman Donalds.
